Our home is in Kavala.
Kavala is a very beautiful historical town amphitheatrically built by the sea. District capital with all services at the disposal of visitor and the hospitable spirit of its 60.000 inhabitants. It has a 2500 years history which starts approximately at Homeric era.
The visitor of Kavala has a lot to do and see in the district from the traditional mansions of the last century like the Town hall, the Municipal Library, the Municipal and Archaeological museums, the Castle, the famous Arcades to the beaches of Kavala which start from inside the city itself and spread to a distance of 80 km, all of them very beautiful, very clear with the blue flag of Europe. The rich and important historic past of Kavala and the surrounding area make the archaeological visits very interesting.
The area of Philippi (built in the times of Philip the 2nd father of Alexander the Great) is the most important stop. Here the ancient Greek world joins the Roman and Byzantine one. Monuments like the Ancient Theatre, the Roman Forum and the two paleochristian churches.The area of Philippi is secently at the list of Unesco monuments.
On Paggeo mountain there is the holy monastery of Eikosifinicha with rare icons and precious donations.
A visit to the ancient Avdira the town of the great wise men, to Nestos river of huge ecological interesting, and picturesque beautiful mountainous Xanthi. (60 km).
Thessalonica the capital of Macedonia is only (165 km) an hour and a half by car from Kavala.
The island of Thassos is 75 minutes by ferry boat or 30 minutes from Kavala by flying dolphins Thassos is an island full of planes, oaks and pine-trees with dream like sea-shores with an ancient theater and temple. Kavala is an easy destination with often comfortable land sea and air communication with the rest of Greece and Europe by international charter flights.
