Traditonal Swedish wooden house from 1881, with private beach on the Baltic Sea only 25 minutes from downtown Stockholm with beds for 9 persons. Possible to exchange cars.

Located on a forested pensinsula right on the Baltic Sea, with a private beach. 25 minutes by car from central Stockholm. View an aerial video of our house and peninsula by clicking on the link below:

Built in 1881 in traditional Swedish style, 200 m2 on two floors, this wooden house has 3 bedrooms, computer with free internet, and two cozy fireplaces. There are two large living rooms, one with a TV room with a 52 inchTV and the other a sitting room for socializing. Next to the main house is a guest house which is 35m2, accomodates two people, with shower and toilet. There is a third tiny house of 10m2 with a double bed.

In a separate house there is a sauna, with shower and fireplace. There is a large trampolin, a field for playing "boules", and a playing field for soccer. There is a 40 m2 stone-laid patio overlooking the sea, with a BBQ.

Four bikes are available. We are open to exchanging cars, but this is not a must, just a possibility. We can provide a Cirtoen C5 sedan or a Citroen C5 station wagon. Both cars are automatic shift. A ten minute bike ride from our house is a charming lake with a small sandy beach and good bathing for kids. There is a second lake 15 minutes by bike with high rocky cliffs and spectacularly clean water.

There is an 18 hole golf course 15 minutes away by car. You can play for a green fee.

When we have exchanged homes 10 times, and have always agreed upon mutual housekeeping: each family cleans their own home after the exchange.
We think that our house offers a perfect combination of country living just a short distance from the capital of Sweden.

Neighborhood

About the neighborhood

Our neighbourhood is located 25 minutes by car from downtown Stockholm. It is an area with two lakes within 5 minutes of our house, both with excellent bathing during the summer months.

The neibourhood is totally residential, with houses with large properties, and has gravel roads with a destinctive country feel making it very popular to live in, such a short distance from the capital of Sweden.

600 meters from our house is the municipal bus which connects to the subway system in Stockholm.

Our property is on a large forested peninsula which we share with six other houses. We are surrounded by the Baltic Sea which is great for swimming in during the months of May to August. (Especially if you don't at times mind chilly water!)

We have a separate guest house of 35m2, a third tiny house with a double bed, and a fourth house with a typical Swedish sauna, and a small relax room with a fireplace.

ABOUT STOCKHOLM

Stockholm has a fantastic location, where lake mälaren meets the sea. It is built on 14 islands. Because Sstockholm has endless amounts of clear and clean water, you can swim or fish in the middle of the city. It's a very easy city to get around - on foot or utilising the excellent public transport system. There's something for everyone in Stockholm, with its more than 70 museums, 100 art galleries and 1500 restaurants. With its 24,000 islands, the Stockholm archipelago is a unique environment to visit all year round. Many of the islands in the archipelago can be reached by regular ferry services from central Stockholm. In Stockholm city you find the old town of Stockholm, dating back to the 13th century. The old town is a very well preserved mediaeval city center.

If you have children stockholm features an abundance of attractions for children, many of which are located on the island of Djurgården, the royal park. These include Junibacken, where the little ones can come face-to-face with many of the beloved characters from the storyworld of Astrid Lindgren such as Pippi longstocking, Emil in lönneberga and Karlsson on the roof. There is also Aquaria water museum, and of course the big open air museum Skansen, with its zoo featuring scandinavian fauna and a special children's zoo. At Djurgården there is also an amusement park Gröna lund. Then there's kulturhuset, the culture house, in the city centre, with libraries, theatres, exhibitions, workshops and play areas for children. there are also numerous parks and green areas, playgrounds for children of all ages. At the Haga park there is a nice butterfly house/museum with birds, butterflies, insects and a café.

At Djurgården, you can just stroll around or visit for example the great Vasa museum (the famous warship vasa which was lost 1628 and salvaged 1961) or Liljevalchs art gallery (with one of our favourite cafés/restaurangs very close, it is called Blå porten). another of our favourite cafés/restaurangs on Djurgården is Rosendals garden café. during summer time you can sit and have your lunch or coffee under an apple tree at rosendal in a big garden and in winter time you sit in a big glass-house.

From Stockholm city you can also take a short trip to Drottningholms slott/Drottningholm palace with the chinese pavilion. This Royal palace in baroque style is on the world heritage list and is also the home of the Swedish royal family. In summertime we highly recommend you to take the beautiful boat trip from Stockholm city (from the town hall) to Drottningholm palace and stroll around a few hours and then take the boat back again.

There are of course lots more to say about stockholm. here are two good links that give you more information on stockholm: http://www.visitsweden.com/sweden/regions--cities/stockholm/

My wife is a municipal Educational strategist and I am a photographer working for both the corporate world and for international aid and developement. We have three sons, 24, 29 and 40. All live in their own places in Stockholm. At times some of them join us on an exchange.

We have travelled very extensively around the world, and travel is our passion. We are curious about new cultures, foods, and meeting new people. We see Intervac as a way to deepen our knowledge and understanding of local communities. All our exchanges have been great!

We are open to either long weekend (4-6 days) in various cities in Europe such as Vienna, Athens, Rome, Oporto, Paris. Normally with 4 beds. One or two week summer exchanges in Italy, Spain, Portugal or Greece, June or August are also of interest. We are looking for a house with 8-10 beds, either by the sea or with a swimming pool.

We are also open to exchanges with North America. Of particular interest are Manhattan in New York and Newport Beach in California. Montreal, Canada is also of interest in particular the center of town or Westmount, Outremont.

Additional places of interest are the coastal New England States, or perhaps Montana or Wyoming. We are open to an exchange in Asia or in China or Melbourne, Australia.

Our traditional Swedish home, built in 1881 is totally modernized, is located on a charming peninsula with beachfront on the Baltic Sea. It accomodates 8-9 people. Relaxing, yet only 25 minutes by car to central Stockholm. We have often exchanged cars at the same time.

Looking forward to your suggestions,

Victor & Ann Brott
