House in Haarlem, the Netherlands
Hi, we are are family of four: Wouter, Astrid, Malie (17), Finn (15) and our cat Lilly (12). Thanks for your interest!
We live in HAARLEM, a beautiful old city near Amsterdam (16 km) and the North Sea beach (5 km). From our house you can walk into the dunes (15 minutes) or into a wonderful park (Elswout) or into the woods. See this website:

Surroundings:
A bakery and small supermarket are close by (just a few minutes walk), two larger shopping areas and supermarkets are 15 minutes by foot or 5 minutes by car. A nice playground is at the end of our street and we have a small garden. There are a number of nice restaurants and cafes at walking distance:

Haarlem:
"Haarlem is definitely one of the most beautiful historical cities in the Netherlands. It is also the capital of the province of North Holland. The city is located on the river Spaarne, west of Amsterdam and near the coastal dunes. It has been the historical center of the tulip bulb-growing district for centuries and bears the nickname 'Bloemenstad' (flower city), for this reason.
The city is famous for its many hofjes: almshouses built around courtyards. These were mainly privately funded houses for elderly single women. Nowadays there are 19 hofjes in Haarlem; many open to the public on weekdays. Many hofjes are still owned by the original foundations, and are still mainly used for single (elderly) women.
Other highlights: Don't miss the Art deco railway station, 'Grote Markt' Often referred to as one of the most beautiful big market squares of the Netherlands, the Grote Markt inlcudes famous buildings like the City Hall and the Grote or St. Bave Church. Around this market square, you'll find dozens of interesting boutiques and great bars with terraces. Must-see museums are the Teylers Museum (arts & sciences) and the Frans Hals Museum (Dutch paintings of the Golden Age)."
