COLCHESTER, Great Britain
Visit Colchester the oldest recorded town in England?
Whilst living in the suburbs of a large town as we back directly onto a country park the environment around our home is quiet and peaceful. The main town is only ten minutes drive or you can catch a bus from the top of our road. Less than half a mile from the house is a large supermarket and newsagents. I take great pride in the care of my home as I would yours and my weekly cleaner will help maintain the house during your visit. With five bedrooms there are plenty of sleeping options including King, Double or single beds. I particularly enjoy my garden which adjoins a country park. The raised patio areas are great places to relax over breakfast. My home has all the amenities you would expect for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Wi-Fi is available along with access to numerous TV channels. There is a newly fitted eat in kitchen, large lounge and a study. On all my previous exchanges I have swapped cars and would be happy to do so again with the appropriate insurance in place.

Neighborhood
About the neighborhood
Our home backs directly onto a country park with woodland walks, running trails and a fishing lake. The carpet of bluebells directly next to our fence line is a magnificent sight each spring. Across the park you can see the town of Colchester. Here you will find all the amenities of a large town including a wide range of cafes, bars and restaurants, excellent shopping, multiscreen cinema, theatre, bowling, rollerskating, and large leisure center with two swimming pools. The intercity station allows travel to London in fifty minutes; trains being about every twenty minutes. Colchester is well located for a wide range of day trips. Within an hour by car you might visit Cambridge, travel to some stunning coastline, enjoy a cream tea in a traditional thatched village or stroll the valley where John Constable painted. The local airports of Stansted and Southend have allowed previous exchange partners to make the short flights to Ireland or the European battlefields during their trips. Colchester is the oldest recorded town in England and was the capital prior to London. It has a magnificent castle, Roman town walls, old churches and architecture including both Tudor and Georgian. Colchester is a very attractive town popular with visitors for its mix of history and modern amenities.

With my son, daughter or a friend I have enjoyed many successful exchanges to North America. I have been lucky enough to visit Phoenix, Tampa, Savanah, Washington, Toronto, San Francisco, Palm Springs, Denver, Georgia, Daytona, Fort Pierce, Chicago, Charlotte, Boise and Panama City Beach. Any new destination inland or by the coast will be of interest for a future trip.
I usually travel with a friend; my children joining me if they have holiday leave.
My work in Education restricts my travels to English school holiday times.
